Need
A major telecommunications company identified the need to significantly enhance the capability of local business units to respond to rapid marketplace shifts, accommodate major change in organizational structure & process, and to improve union-management relations. An entrepreneurial business-within-a-business was established to provide rapid-response consulting services to local business units to address the identified challenges.
Actions
Developed rapid-response service delivery strategy to provide consulting support to several hundred local business units across the United States. Designed and implemented integrated marketing program to advertise & sell consulting services. Provided on-site consulting to BU management (including union-management committees) to collect data, clarify goals, identify & secure resources and implement selected alternatives.
Results
- Formed, facilitated and consulted to over 75 local management & union/management teams.
- Oversaw delivery of over $700,000 in services across the country.
- Obtained $1.5 MM of local, State and Federal funding for workforce re-skilling. Directed all aspects of a $2.2 million country-wide life skills intervention.
